My 25 year career has been spent as a writer, and communications strategist focused on the communication of complex subject matter to various audiences. My expertise is in the development of positioning and crafting of strategy in areas that include financial services, retirement planning, mortgages, health care, insurance, accounting, public policy and law, and I’m equally at home working in any medium, whether print, audio-only or video. Until 2006, I was the CEO of a communications consulting firm I founded in 1989, and over those years my firm was engaged at the senior management level by hundreds of company’s including 76 of the Fortune 500.

In 2008, I began writing a blog to help people better understand the various impacts of what had begun during the summer of 2007 in the financial and credit markets, and became heavily focused on the foreclosure crisis in 2009. I became well known as the guy who could save a home from foreclosure when all other avenues had been explored. It was exhausting, but rewarding, and I came to learn a great deal about the mortgage industry. As a result, I learned that the government had created a mortgage that was structured to help senior homeowners stay in their homes, even during uncertain financial times. It became known as a “reverse mortgage” and in the early days, it wasn’t very well regulated. Today, that has all changed, and it could be the best thing a senior homeowner could do, under the right circumstances. I spend a good deal of time educating professionals who help senior homeowners, like CPAs, attorneys, and financial planners, the best practices of the reverse mortgage (also known as “home equity conversion mortgage” or HECM).

As an undergraduate I majored in economics and I’m an alumnus of Pepperdine University’s Presidential/Key Executive MBA.
